The Weekly Comet 16 (comments and criticisms welcome)

Last Thursday, (also known as halloween), Grace, Rachel, Faith, and Elijah all worked together on making a spectacular harvest festival. This festival started out after dinner when the little kids were told their mission: To retrieve a stolen unknown treasure, (while having fun, of course.) Then they took the Elijah-powered-wheelbarrow to their first destination: The obstacle course.

The obstacle course was made by nun other than Grace and Elijah D.. You'd think it would be another state of the art, normal DeVyldere obstacle course, but Grace and Elijah took it to the next level. They tied all the kids' feet together and had them dodge obstacles while also ducking and jumping ropes strung everywhere. It was a hilarious sight, especially since they were doing it in the dark. Next came the ride through the no-leaf-path made by yours truly to The Plank.

The Plank was a picnic table set in the middle of a leaf pile. The L.K.S was blindfolded, forced onto the "Plank", and then poked with a broom until they jumped, right into a ginormous leaf pile. Then came the fun center.

The fun center, made by all the big kids, started out with an apple toss. The apple toss was when the L.K.S sat in the chairs "approximately" five feet away from the target, (a small plastic wheelbarrow), personally, I think it was rigged, but I won't put that in here. Anyway, then they had three (3) three (3.0) tries to knock the target down, and if they did, they got a prize from the snack bar, filled with pretzels, marshmallows, and cheese sticks. Next came the spooky ride and the leaf jump. Elijah put one kid at a time in the wheelbarrow and then took them through a short ride that made them take a shortcut through the playhouse where either Rachel or Faith was hiding, and then scared the cheese out of them, and while they waited, they jumped with Grace on the leaf covered trampoline. Then we all jumped in the leaf pile a bunch of times until Mom and Dad came home, and, after burying ourselves in leafs, we snuck in and got their treasure: tea and a cream pie made from scratch, (either that or a how to kit.)

All in all, the 2013 DeVyldere harvest festival was pretty great.

Math homework

Lately Hannah has been teaching Grace and Faith D. how to do pre-algebra. And since we both just about epically fail, Hannah made us lists for when we're stuck and for when we don't get the right answer. And for those of you out there who don't know how to do pre-algebra, I envy you. So anyway, here are the lists:

If you're stuck.....

Make check mark on paper.

Cross item out, (no time for that I'm afraid.)

Add\subtract like terms.

Deal with the parenthesis.

Remember! X is lonely!!!!!

Say that seems pretty senseless but whatever.

Did you drop a negative?

Did you drop everything BUT a negative?

Accidentally change a sign?

Accidentally change the entire problem?

Eat your own home work.

Hire the L.K.S to eat your homework and then distract Hannah while you pack your bags and move to Canada.

Mom and Dad go to Fiji

Last Sunday Mom and Dad took a trip to the delightful state of Fiji, where the state flower is Hibiscus, and everyone has cool accents. Fiji is also known for their.............Well, whatever Fiji is known for.

Since their departure we have been party-I mean being sad all week. Wait, they probably don't get internet connection over there. Never mind: Yes!!!!!! No parents!!!!!!!!!!!! We're having the ultimate week right now!!!!!!!! Seriously, we still can't get the kids off the ceiling. But anyway, I figure it's safe to keep them up there as long as they're still sleeping.

But back to the matter at hand. Here's what the kids have to say about it:

Keturah says: "We're having a singing concert on the stairs."

Ezra says: "He-he-he-he"

Jewel says: "Bye."

Sarah says: "No comment."

Faith says: "Yes!!!!!!!!!!"

Grace says: "Where's Fiji?"

The weekly L.K.S news: An L.K.S Christmas

Sarah says: "We're getting ready now, and we're going to celebrate it on new year's eve."

Jewel says: ""We're getting ready for Christmas early by decorating the L.K.S fort."

Ezra says: "We're even setting up a security system so Evil Santa Claws can't steal our cookies."

Keturah says: "Jingle bells..."

Rumor column

Pistachios are real, but vacuum cleaners aren't.

Pie is just a bunch of numbers. (Who new?!)

Justin Beaver's a girl.(That would be in the news flash except the L.K.S hasn't been able to prove it yet.)

Mom and Dad D. went to Alaska.

Jerusha fed Sarah caffeinated coffee and Sarah was never seen again.
